Production statistics (raising, hatching and raising chickens). A study by Dr John Bishop with the support of the national agricultural research organization in Ecuador and the University of Florida in the United States has shown that; If the chickens are well cared for due to the best breeding techniques, they can increase the ability to lay eggs from 10 eggs to 12 eggs per month. For example, if you have 12 chickens and 1 rooster fed 1 kg of cereal per day you can sell 10 dozen eggs per month which is equivalent to 4 eggs per day.

Do you like to get rich by raising and selling chickens?. See the calculation analysis your income will be as follows,

See here the preparation of poultry farming in towns and rural areas.

For 2 years. A capital of $ 200 if you have an area of 1 acre and enough huts for 10,000 chickens. Start with raising 25 chickens (20 hens and 5 roosters) which you will buy for $ 100.The 20 hens start laying 10 chicks each will hatch 200 chicks and take good care of the chicks. Let's take up to 150 hens which in 6 months or more will also start laying. During that period you will have chickens (200+ 25 = 225.) After that 6 months, the laying hens will be 170 each getting 10 chicks by the end of the year you will have chickens (1700 + 20 + 55 = 1775) selling 1,000 chickens for $ 5 you will get $ 5,000  / =. Year 2 775 hens hatching 10 chicks each will have 7,550 hens at the end of the year selling 3,000 chickens for $ 5 each you will get $ 15000 = These numbers are very low estimates as  I mentioned above one hen if cared for properly can lay between 10 and 12 eggs per month.

Indigenous chickens have been bred in large numbers in rural areas to obtain meat and eggs for their families and subsistence purposes. Indigenous chickens and eggs have significant health benefits in contrast to modern chickens that are chemically grown. Number of chickens in Tanzania. It is estimated that there are a total of 34 Million chickens raised by about 60.5% of households engaged in agriculture. However, its production has remained poor due to the following pastoralist challenges;

Poor care, poor disease control, poor nutrition, poor housing, proximity, poor technology, lack of vision/awareness and other many challenges. Now take time to pass through part one of these learning materials. Thanks, much for your time, just comment and ask any questions.

After seeing a little calculation on poultry farming, let's now see which kind of poultry you can decide on for your poultry farming project. Today I want you to tell me what kind of chicken are you ready to raise?
And why?
There are different types of chickens that a breeder can keep and each type depends on the goals of the person who wants to do this breeding activity, so today I have brought you the four main groups of chickens that we raise.

(a) Meat chickens.

This is one of the largest poultry farming in the country and these chickens are raised for meat production purposes only.
The production of these chickens is taken from the parent hens from abroad and kept in a special place for the production of eggs and hatched eggs which produced enough meat chickens which are nowadays kept to many poultry keepers.

The benefits of these chickens. The advantage you will get as a breeder is that these chickens are kept for a short period of two to three months and sold for meat use, so it is a good place to earn an income and benefit from your short-term farming. I'm talking of the meat chickens advantages, this is full employment that if you decide to commit for it, you will never think of looking for to get employed. It pays a lot of money depending on your project.
The cost of raising these chickens is a bit high so when you decide to farm for your livelihood it is important to raise more chickens at the same time this will make you a better profit than raising a few chickens and you will incur losses and you will not pay for it.
It is very important to keep a record of the expenses incurred in your poultry project so that when you sell it you can evaluate yourself and know if you have made a profit or a loss in your project.

(b) Egg chickens.

These are the type of hens that are raised for specific purposes to produce eggs, these hens lay a lot of eggs and lay without a rooster, these chickens are well prepared for laying only so if you decide to keep them a rooster will lay and hatch but its chicks will not have that quality
required.
The benefits of these chickens,
Since these hens are good laying hens then they give the breeder a daily income guarantee until he reaches the end of his project, for at least two years.
To get the intended benefit in your chicken project you need to give them a good and adequate diet and also consider vaccination and treatment for diseases when you see symptoms of diseases.
Note that, poultry farming is one of the most profitable projects as long as the breeder adheres to the best breeding principles.
To be productive, you must raise at least three hundred chickens and continue to see the benefits.

(c) Hybrid chickens.

These are the types of chickens that have mixed one type of chicken with another type of chicken and got one type of chicken, for example, a local rooster has been mixed with modern hen and the chicks that will come out will be hybrid because they will have some local characteristics and some modern traits. These chickens in this country are many and there are different groups of chickens depending on the origin and place of origin, for example, Malawi, kenbro, Saso and Kuroiler and these differ in characteristics and origin.
Benefits of hybrid chicken, here I will generalize all the benefits but sometimes I will analyze one type of hybrid chicken.
They are fast and have large shapes unlike local chickens so they are very good for meat.
They are very good laying hens unlike local hens (if these chickens well cared for they lay between 180-300 eggs per year so they are very good for eggs.
They live in any environment because they can live well if left to fend for themselves.
They are very resistant to diseases (vaccination is important to give them) unlike broilers or laying hens. Their meat is very good and is no different from local chickens. They weigh a lot of, one chicken up to six kilograms and Its market is huge.

(d) Local chickens.

These are chickens that originated here in Tanzania and we have in many parts of our country, these chickens have smaller shapes compared to hybrid chickens, also these chickens do not grow faster compared to hybrid chickens, this type of hen lays very few eggs for a year and they lay between 40-120 eggs.

The benefits of these chickens, these chickens are raised in any environment because they are good for food, so to get the most out of your chicken project you are advised to give them extra food so that they can grow faster and have a good weight to meet the market and minimize costs of raising. These chickens are inexpensive so I suggest that if you have a good area it is important to start raising these chickens because they have no problem raising them. These chickens are very popular in this country because of their meat and eggs being very good and they are natural chickens so we believe they do not have chemical effects on users and this is true.

There are different types of chickens in our country and it is important to look at your goals and the needs of the community. The good and interesting thing is that these types of chickens are raised in all parts of our country so look at your environment and decide which kind you prefer to raise.
